Review - Rocco Forte Hotel Amigo - Brussels
Rocco Forte has long been on my bucket list of luxury hotels and I finally tried the British family brand in Brussels. The stylish presentation on their website is intriguing and the company’s mission seems very much in line with my own mantra: respect the historical heritage of the place.
Brussels itself is kind of underrated. Yes, it is the home to a bureaucratic behemoth: the parliament of the European Union. On the other hand, though, there is world-class contemporary art, historic and cultural sights, oh and Tin Tin!
So I called up my Virtuoso dealer and booked in the hope of upgrade and stay credit. Which we both received, even a double upgrade.
Atmosphere
“Each of our properties is individual – each has its own personality, and each is authentic to its city. All are landmarks, both old and new, occupying magnificent buildings in exceptional locations. ”
This sentence from their website is surely true for Rocco Forte’s Brussels hotel. Wonderful old building and perfect location in the very center of the old town.
I also found the interior design and art inside the public hotel areas pleasant and quite fitting to the Belgian capital.
Room
Thanks to a Virtuoso booking we received a double upgrade from Classic to Executive room. Really spacious with a sofa, armchair, desk, and a huge bathroom. High quality materials and fabrics everywhere. This is definitely not IKEA.
It was all wonderful except the view from our room. Even without that construction it wouldn’t be very appealing:
At least we got some Belgian chocolate for free. Delicious.
Dining
We enjoyed breakfast with good coffee and made-to-order eggs. I would say choice and quality were good and as expected for a five star hotel. Nothing special, though.
We have not eaten at the hotel restaurant “Bocconi”, but the reviews seem very good for this one. No Michelin star, but a recommendation from the Guide nonetheless.

Overall the Amigo is surely one of the few great places to stay in Brussels. Great location and quality of service. And the city itself is not to be underestimated and could enrich an Europe trip itinerary for 1 to 3 days.
