Welcome to my blog. I’m a Traveller of the Continents and a Luxury Travel Advisor. I hope you enjoy my travel reviews!

Update: As of now, you can earn or redeem World of Hyatt points with 200 participating SLH hotels in Europe. I updated the map by marking those with a blue star.
I created this map for my own trip planning since I haven’t found a suitable tool on the web to find small luxury and other boutique hotels for any desired destination. I am keeping it up to date on a regular basis (hotels change brands or close down more often than you think). Currently, the map only covers Europe.
Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) - currently only covering Europe
SLH hotels that also participate in the World of Hyatt program
Relais & Chateaux (R&C) - I am just starting on this brand
Boutique hotels that don’t belong to a brand - currently only the few that I have actually reviewed |
A77 Suites, a hidden gem in the heart of Athens, blends modern luxury with historical charm. Nestled in a picturesque old-town boutique shopping area, this boutique hotel offers an exceptional retreat for the discerning traveller.
As part of a Bordeaux wine tour through the right bank around St. Emilion, I stayed in the Grand Barrail, a luxurious chateau and SLH boutique hotel amidst the vineyards. Compared to the fantastic Les Sources des Caudalie this place took the more elegant, old-world and aristocratic route when it came to designing the interiors and appreciating the heritage of one of the most famous wine areas in the world.
Discover something wonderful in Bordeaux. Imagine a place where nothing looks artificial, but blends perfectly into the natural environment. Where the service is first class, but nothing is bling-bling. Where you can have your dinner be prepared by a two-Michelin-star chef, without being pretentious. And all this amidst the best wine region on the planet.
Sound like heaven? It might as well be - to me at least. Will you feel the same?
St. Moritz - a name of glamour and prestige regarding winter holidays since 1864, where Shahs, playboys and all the other jet set of the 60s and 70s reigned supreme and today mingle with the newly rich and wannabe riches. Located in the always sunny, but high-altitudinal, Engadin county of Switzerland it really delivered on the clearest air I have experienced at -4° F (-20° C) in mid-December. Similar to the heat of Dubai, it was a dry cold that felt slightly more bearable than elsewhere.
The Crystal hotel is part of the SLH network, and, uncommon for them, only has 4 stars. This doesn’t have to be bad - I stayed at wonderful 4 or 3 star hotels - but does the Crystal surprise with unsuspected wonder?
Continuing our small trip through the South West of Sri Lanka we are going from Nuwara Elyia to Kandy to see a tooth of a Buddah and an elephant orphanage. Then onto our fantastic finish in the laid back colonial seaside town of Galle with beautiful beaches and fishermen on a stick.
The green island of Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, is not only a dream destination for tea connoisseurs, but also the still-empty beaches of this pearl in the Indian Ocean are worth a trip...if you do it in style, that is.
German wine might not have the same reputation as French wines do, but some of the best whites are made there. Considering the Baden wine region's closeness to France, this sunny area on the other side of the Rhine with volcanic origins is perfectly situated for wine making.
What does Olympia have to do with Jazz?
I made that connection when I stayed in Lausanne next to the Olympic Museum at the IOC headquarters and visited the famous Montreux Jazz Festival not far from there.
The pristine location directly at Lake Geneva, the world's best names in Jazz and some Pop, Rock and R&B stars in the middle make up for a fun and diverse event.
Even if April is still not bathing weather in the French Riviera, I recommend a trip to the Côte d’Azur nonetheless.
At least if you are like me and enjoy less people. Well, less people in one of the most beautiful sea-sides in the world still means "quite a few" people ;) Understandable, if you consider the fantastic weather we had throughout the week.
Hygge = Danish word for a feeling of home, comfort, like a hot chocolate sitting by the fire reading a book
You might know Vals in the mountains of Switzerland from the thermal baths: 7132 Therme & Spa designed by famed Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. To finally visit the hyped baths I went to Vals for a weekend and stayed in the wonderful Brücke 49.
